1. Our Commitment

At The Verity Mountain Ltd, the safety, dignity, and wellbeing of our residents are fundamental to everything we do.

Safeguarding means protecting individuals from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and harm, while supporting their right to make informed decisions, maintain autonomy, and engage safely within the residential environment.

We recognise that individuals may experience periods of increased vulnerability due to personal circumstances, trauma, substance use, mental health challenges, physical health conditions, or significant life events. Safeguarding is therefore central to our professional responsibilities and the way we deliver support.

2. Professional Standards

Our safeguarding approach is informed by recognised UK professional standards for therapeutic work and residential support.

As our residential programme is delivered in Poland, we operate in accordance with applicable local laws, safeguarding responsibilities, and emergency procedures. Our aim is to provide a safe, respectful, and professionally supported environment for every resident.

3. Clear Boundaries of Care

The Verity Mountain Ltd provides non-medical therapeutic support and counselling within a private residential setting.

We do not provide medical treatment, clinical detoxification, psychiatric hospitalisation, or emergency healthcare services.

Where medical assessment, detoxification, prescribing, psychiatric input, or other clinical support is required, this is coordinated through trusted independent external providers. Verity Mountain does not deliver this care directly.

In the event of a medical or psychiatric emergency, care is transferred immediately to the appropriate emergency or specialist medical services.

4. Our Safeguarding Principles

Our safeguarding approach is guided by the principles of:

• Empowerment – supporting individuals to make informed decisions about their own wellbeing

• Prevention – reducing the risk of harm before concerns arise

• Protection – responding appropriately where individuals may be at risk

• Proportionality – ensuring responses remain measured, appropriate, and proportionate to the concern

• Partnership – working with relevant external agencies and services where appropriate

• Accountability – maintaining clear, confidential, and responsible internal processes

All staff, volunteers, and professionals involved in the programme share responsibility for safeguarding.

5. Responding to Safeguarding Concerns

If a safeguarding concern arises, appropriate action may include:

• prioritising the immediate safety and wellbeing of the individual

• reporting concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead

• recording concerns clearly, accurately, and factually

• following relevant safeguarding procedures

• seeking support from appropriate external services where necessary

Where appropriate, concerns may be referred to relevant safeguarding authorities, emergency services, healthcare professionals, or law enforcement agencies.

6. Safer Recruitment and Training

We operate robust recruitment and safeguarding practices designed to protect the integrity of the residential environment.

These include:

• identity verification

• professional qualification checks where relevant

• reference checks

• DBS checks or local equivalents where appropriate

• safeguarding training relevant to each individual role

Safeguarding responsibilities form part of ongoing professional development and operational practice.
